My Chanel: Friend or Foe?

There's no denying that most of us would do anything for a Chanel bag to be our best friend. The idea that i'd even come close to owning a real one of these has been held dearly for years, so when student finance decided to give me the biggest lump some of money i'd ever recieved I decided to splash out on this possibility.

I bought the bag from a vintage shop just off commercial street, the name i'd have to re-visit and find out. It was in a shiny cabinet along with some others which all resembled the old lived in dogs you see and just want to give every single one a home at pet rescue centres.

The bag was £115 despite how battered, bruised and strapless it was and I was recited that there is no guarantee of the bag being real, but that day i had recently been at Portabello market, where they were selling smaller, faker looking replicas for £90 so I wasn't bothered at all, i saw it as an investment.

A year on I decided to finally look into a bag restoration service as there didn't seem to be any in the UK, Thankfully my christmas present of a Vogue subscription pointed me in the right directions on the ad page http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/ I have emailed for a quote and am still waiting to see how much it will cost to restore the bag, I will post before and after photos when I finally get round to it.

In the mean time I have browsed many 'authenticity guides' and videos and have discovered some of the key elements in a genuine chanel:

Here are just two of some i found on google, all signs point towards the bag being genuine apart from the magnetic clasp and the lack of 'made in' and I still haven't been able to find any information on this, other than on:

Hope these links are of some help.

Fingers Crossed and if in doubt, google
